Stagbeetle: Image

It is indeed a weird day in Edinburgh if we have sightings of the wonderful but rare stag beetle. Here he naps on his favourite circular symbol on the Hilton of Cadboll Stone, a Pictish stone carved cAD 800 and currently to be found on Chambers Street in the National Museum of Scotland.

As for the edges; are they snail eggs, bubbles, frogspawn or an overflowing Petri dish? Your eyes decide.
